JUNE 5th, 2024
NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore launched into space for what was supposed to be an eight-day mission.
Nine and a half months later, they were still there.
Their spacecraft had malfunctioned. Their return kept getting delayed. They lived
suspended between two worlds — not quite on mission, not yet home — while
everyone else debated whether they were stranded.
When they finally splashed down 286 days later, they didn’t stumble out broken.
They came out smiling.
